Volunteer soldiers’ remains laid to rest in Kon Tum

A burial service was held at a martyr cemetery in Ngoc Hoi district, the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on May 18 to re-bury the remains of 14 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives on Lao and Cambodian battlefields during wartime.

During the 2014-2015 dry season, those sets of remains were collected by the provincial Military Command’s K53 group with the support from the authorities of Laos’ Attapeu, Sekong and Champasak provinces and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province.

All of the repatriated remains are still unclaimed.

In the past few years, the Party and Government have paid much attention to the search and repatriation of remains of volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos and Cambodia.

During 2013-2015, the K53 group retrieved 90 martyrs’ remains, including 25 sets in Vietnam, 12 in Laos and 53 in Cambodia.
