Mr Dung thanked the Party, Government, local authorities and people of Laos for their assistance to the Vietnamese special working groups that have been finding and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, who fell in battle in Laos.
Mr Saynhasone expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese volunteers who had sacrificed themselves for the sake of Laos.
Later the same day, the Vietnamese delegation paid courtesy visits to Lao Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh and Defence Minister Sen. Lt. Gen. Douangchay Phichith.
In the morning, the delegation worked with a high-level delegation of the LPRP’s General Political Department, led by Major General Sengnouane Saynhalath, Chairman of the General Political Department.
The two sides reviewed the results of bilateral cooperation and discussed measures to boost their ties, especially in organizing activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 30th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.
During the Laos visit slated from May 27-31, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Kaysone Phomvihane Defence Institute, the Infantry Institute and a number of economic and cultural establishments in Vientiane and northern Luang Phrabang province.
