Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued a new decree on plant quarantine to closely manage related activities and implement international treaties that Vietnam has signed or joined in.

The decree, which has 31 articles in seven chapters, clearly defines the responsibilities of plant quarantine organisations, State agencies and People's Committees at all levels.

It also defines the responsibilities and rights of quarantine workers, quarantine procedures as well as prohibited activities.

In particular, the decree sets out specific regulations on the quarantine of plants at border gates and in border areas.
