The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Vietnam Committee for Population, Family and Children signed an agreement on providing contraceptive devices for Vietnamese people in Hanoi on July 11.

Under the newly signed agreement, UNFPA will offer an additional amount of US$1.45 million to the implementation of the programme on population and family planning in a prolonged two-year period from 2006 to 2008. US$1.332 million will be spent on providing free contraceptive devices and US$127,000 on conducting social marketing.

The aim is to help Vietnam with effective contraceptive use when Vietnam is facing financial difficulties.
