Green trees cast shadow on Hanoi streets

(VOV) - Hanoi's leafy boulevards with thousands of old trees prettify the capital city as an attractive destination for local residents and tourists, inspiring artistic creativity of generations of artists.

Recognised as a city of peace by the UNESCO in 1999, Hanoi is famous for its natural beauty and green trees, particularly in populous areas in some inner districts - Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, and Hai Ba Trung.

Autumn is the most wonderful time to contemplate leafy boulevards covered by thick layers of leaves in yellow colour, or in spring when millions of buds shoot forth on tree branches.

During these days, there’s growing public concern over the chopping down of some 6,700 trees in Hanoi as part of a landscaping project.

But after Hanoians took to social media to vent their fury, authorities were forced to backtrack. Hanoi People's committee Chairman has asked for a stop to the cutting down.
