The sixth Vietnam-Germany Economic Forum opened in Hanoi on March 27, offering the two countries' entrepreneurs opportunities to increase bilateral co-operation and investment and to access each other's market.

Speaking at the event, representative of the German business circle Matthias Claussen said many German businesspeople have considered Vietnam a potential and attractive destination and have been sanguine about long-term investment opportunities in Vietnam.

He also affirmed that Germany is willing to become an important partner in using its prestige, influence and cutting-edge technologies to assist Vietnam.

The German leading businessman was interested in potential areas for bilateral co-operation in the future, such as mechanical engineering, bio-technology, energy, food processing industry and infrastructure construction.

At the forum, German businessmen discussed investment conditions, market entry, management and legal procedure, taxation, fees and operation costs, labour law, import tariff, infrastructure, energy, banking and financial activities.

During the event, which is held every two years, a series of meetings and talks between Vietnamese and German small and medium-sized enterprises will be held in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from March 27-30.
