The event was organized by the Canadian Consulate General in HCMC, the Canada International School, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and the City’s Union of Friendship Organizations.
The proceeds from the run will be donated to the HCMC Cancer and Tumour Hospital to help it upgrade its facilities and treat cancer patients living in difficult circumstances.
The non-competitive run was named after Terry Fox who suffered bone cancer, had one leg amputated, and decided to run 5,300km to raise people’s awareness of bone cancer and garner support for bone cancer patients.
Over the past 15 years, Fox’s courageous image has been continuously honoured in many runs in his name to raise funds for cancer patients in Canada and 60 other nations around the world.
In Vietnam, the event has been popular with the local people and received a very active response.
