A 30-tonne bronze bell was successfully made by artisan Nguyen Van Sinh and his team at Duc ward in the former imperial city of Hue on January 11.

The VND6.5-billion bell is 5.4 m high and has a diameter of 3.42 m, becoming the largest in Southeast Asia so far.

The bell was made under the order of the Hoa Lu tourist company in northern Ninh Binh province to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the founding of Thang Long-Hanoi.

This is the second bell of such size cast by Sinh and his team. The first one, weighing 22.47 tonnes, was made in 2006.
