‘Smart City’ forum gets under way in HCM City

VOV.VN - Nguyen Duc Nghia, vice president of the Vietnam National University delivered the opening speech at a smart city forum that opened today (June 22) in Ho Chi Minh City, according to a report by the Vietnam News Agency.

The International Student Science Forum 2017 attended by roughly 100 representatives from 10 countries aims to improve the quality of life in Vietnamese cities by enhancing their telecommunication and broadband services platforms, said Mr Nghia.

This, said Mr Nghia, is important not only to the city’s economic viability, but also to the health, safety and welfare of citizens and visitors. He also discussed key goals of the smart city regarding technology needs, services, and expectations.

The way a city uses its infrastructure foundation—emergency management, energy and electricity, transportation, business economy, sustainability—defines it as an intelligent community.

This forum is engaged and invested in all these issues, and will help prepare Vietnamese young scientists who are the leaders of tomorrow’s cities for an innovative, healthy, and successful future.
