The aid package will be used to buy medical equipment for hospitals in Cu Lao Minh district in Ben Tre province and Tan Phu district in Dong Nai and to build Le Van Tam primary school in Lak district, Dak Lak province.
These projects aim to improve the quality of healthcare and educational services to meet the increasing demand of local people.
The non-refundable aid from the Japanese government, worth nearly US$5 million, was part of a project to upgrade equipment for the Central Obstetrics Hospital.
Under the 18-month project, over 100 different items of modern medical equipment were addressed to the infant and obstetrics wards, surgery, first aid and examination rooms of the hospital.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thi Xuyen thanked the Japanese government and people for their precious assistance to the Vietnamese medical sector and affirmed that the project will help the country’s obstetric sector to develop.
She expressed her wish that the Japanese government would continue its assistance for the second phase of the Health Ministry’s project to develop provincial and regional hospitals.
