HCM City calls for more investments of US technological groups

Nguyen Thien Nhan, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee, has called on US technological groups and companies to expand their investment and cooperation in the city.

He had working sessions with representatives of leading US technological groups and companies like Intel, Allied Telesis, Zoom and Marvell, which are investing in HCM City, on December 11 as part of his visit to the US.

Nhan appealed to the businesses to help the Vietnamese southern metropolis implement projects and programmes on smart urban building and high-tech product development.

At a working session with Allied Telesis Group based in Silicon Valley in San Francisco, the two sides discussed technological solutions to urban management and high-tech infrastructure service development.

On this occasion, Le Hoai Quoc, head of the management board of the Saigon High-tech Park (SHTP) handed over an investment licence to representatives of Allied Telesis and Quantus Corporation to implement a project on building a life science research and development institute and a high-tech hospital in the city.

The HCM City leaders expressed their hope that the investors will consider training and employing young, talented and skilled labourers in the locality through specific activities.

They pledged to create the best possible conditions for the US enterprises, especially in land use tax and human resources.

On December 10, Nhan and his entourage met with lawyers of McDermott Will & Emery LLP (MWE), to talk about matters regarding the US’s start-up policies, and visited 8CV Company.

They also had a meeting with 26 Vietnamese who studied in the US and are now working in major US groups and companies like Google, Facebook, Yahoo and Wall Mart in San Francisco.
