Over 1,000 asthmatics in Hanoi had direct discussions with experts and doctors to learn about their disease at a seminar held by the Hanoi Union of Scientific and Technical Associations, the municipal Medical Department and Bach Mai Hospital on May 6.

Patients were provided with knowledge of the cause of the disease and effective measures to control it, especially in emergency cases.

Vietnam now has about 4 million asthmatics, representing 5 percent of the national population.

The capital city, which has around 30,000 patients, is leading the country in disseminating information on prevention and treatment of the disease through the activities of clubs.
