Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received the newly-accredited ambassadors of Iraq and Ukraine to Vietnam in Hanoi on November 4.

Welcoming Iraqi Ambassador Farips Abdulkarim Zarawi Al-Ani, PM Dung affirmed that the Vietnamese government always wants to boost its cooperation with Iraq. He expressed his hope that with the new ambassador’s efforts, the bilateral cooperation will be further expanded.

The PM said he was pleased with the increasing two-way trade in recent years, adding that the two countries have great potential for co-operation. He also informed that Vietnam is preparing for the opening of its embassy in Baghdad.

The PM agreed with the ambassador’s proposal to organise a session of the Vietnam-Iraq Joint Committee during which the two sides will discuss specific cooperation issues.

While receiving Ukrainian Ambassador to Vietnam Oleksiy Shovkoplias, the Government leader stressed that Vietnam is ready to cooperate with Ukraine, especially in defence, education and training, and tourism.

He affirmed that Vietnam will create all favourable conditions for the ambassador to fulfill his tasks, contributing to boosting the friendship between the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Oleksiy Shovkoplias said that Vietnam is Ukraine’s important partner in Southeast Asia and the Ukrainian President’s official visit to Vietnam scheduled for early next year will help boost the bilateral ties.

He pledged to try his best during his term of office to promote Ukraine’s trade cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in the areas of Ukraine’s strengths such as shipbuilding, aviation technology and seaports. He also suggested cooperation between the two nations in building metro systems in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
