Brunei Ambassador Mahdi Abdul Rahman and the Paraguayan Ambassador to Vietnam presented credentials to State President Tran Duc Luong in Hanoi on May 12.


Speaking at a reception for Brunei Ambassador Mahdi Abdul Rahman, President Luong expressed his delight at the growing friendship and comprehensive relationship between Vietnam and Brunei. President Luong affirmed that the Royal Brunei Airlines’ launching of direct air route between Brunei capital Banda Seri Begawan and HCM City is of great significance to promoting tourism and trade between the two countries.

Mr Luong expressed hope that the Brunei King will attend the Asian-Pacific Economic Co-operation which is scheduled for Hanoi in November and conveyed his sincere thanks, through the ambassador to Brunei Prince Darussalam Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah for providing charity support to Vietnamese Agent Orange victims during his recent visit to Vietnam in March.


At another reception for Paraguayan Ambassador Isao Taoka, Mr Luong said the two countries could strengthen co-operation in many fields in spite of long distance. President Luong also agreed with Mr Taoka’s proposals that Vietnamese labourers be sent to work in Paraguay in the field of agriculture.
