This line of business is expected to flourish with strong trademarks and high export values, according to the Fourth National Congress of the Vietnam Association for Ornamental Plants and Creatures held in Hanoi on June 5.
In its fourth term, the association will focus on training human resources, boosting production activities and providing related services.
Over the past five years, the association has increased the number of its provincial or city chapters from 35 units with a total of 70,000 members in 2001 to 46 with more than 100,000 members in 2006.
As many as 500,000 people have been trained to do this line of business. Many members have built large farms to grow ornamental plants.
