US piano duo to perform in Vietnam

(VOV) - Sally Pinkas and Evan Hirsch, two American pianists, will give a performance at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on December 3. 

The pair are life partners and have toured extensively around the US, Europe, and many Asian countries.

Sally Pinkas is a Professor of Music and Artist-in-Residence at Dartmouth College (NH). She holds degrees from Indiana University and the New England Conservatory, and a PhD in Composition from Brandeis University.

Pinkas has recorded solo works by composers Schumann, Fauré, Debussy, and Christian Wolff, and has featured on the MSR, Musica Omnia, Centaur, and Mode labels. 

Evan Hirsch, an active recitalist and chamber player, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from SUNY Purchase and a Master of Music from New England Conservatory.

As well as teaching piano and chamber music at Brandeis University, he has been a member of the Adult Education faculty at the New England Conservatory, and taught at Dartmouth College as a Visiting Professor.

Hirsch has performed with a number of contemporary ensembles throughout New England, and has recorded for New Albion and Arsis. 

The two American pianists previously visited Vietnam in celebration of International Children’s Day, teaching handicapped children in Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces in addition to performing.  

They also delighted businesses and artists, invited by the US Consulate General in HCM City, with their interpretations of works written by Byrd, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, and Debussy.
