An official from Ho Chi Minh City has spoken highly of contributions made by local Chinese nationals to the city and called on them to continue uniting with other ethnic groups to work for a more prosperous society.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Tai made his appreciation at a recent meeting with nearly 1,000 Chinese people who are living and working in the city.

He affirmed that the Chinese community's achievements have formed an integral part of HCM City's common successes and helped the city fulfil its socio-economic targets in 2006.
