Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An on June 9 sent congratulatory messages to newly elected Lao Prime Minister Buason Bouphavane and National Assembly Chairman Thoongsin Thammavong.

In their messages, the Vietnamese leaders said they believe that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), the guidance and management of the Lao Government, and the successful implementation of the Lao NA resolutions, the Lao people will fulfil the targets set by the eighth LPRP National Congress.

The Vietnamese leaders also expressed their wishes that the Lao people will make greater achievements in their renewal process to build Laos into a peaceful, independent, democratic, united, and prosperous nation.
