The seminar, entitled “WTO commitments and the role of the Business Association”, was held in Hanoi on April 23.

High on the agenda was Vietnam’s WTO commitments, relations between the Vietnam Business Association, businesses and the government before and after the country’s WTO entry and operations of the business association.

Opening the seminar, Deputy Trade Minister Luong Van Tu stressed that businesses should be dynamic in order to bring into play their internal strengths and raise their competitive capacity to take full advantage of the country’s WTO membership. He also affirmed that the association represents businesses, protect their interests and also work as a bridge between the government and the business community to help the government develop relevant policies.

The seminar is part of the Multilateral Trade Assistance Programme Project (MUTRAP) funded by the EU, which aims to discuss Vietnam’s WTO commitments and obligations as well as potential impacts of WTO membership.
