During their talks, President Sayasone praised Vietnam’s Renewal achievements in recent years, helping raise the country’s profile in the region and the world.

He thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for providing heartfelt support and valuable assistance to Laos in its national construction and defence.

President Triet congratulated Laos on its rapid development and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the country will make greater achievements in the socialist-oriented Renewal process.

The two leaders noted with satisfaction the fine development of the traditional, special and loyal relationship between Vietnam and Laos. They vowed to develop this relationship, considering it an invaluable asset of the two nations and a decisive factor behind the victory of the revolution in each country.

They all agreed to increase comprehensive cooperation by fully tapping their potential in the principle of equality and mutual benefit. They called on their governments to educate their younger generations about the Vietnam-Laos special relationship.

President Triet began an official visit to Laos on August 24 at the invitation of President Chummaly Sayasone.
