At least five people were killed and six others injured in a strike by the US drones in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of South Waziristan in the morning of July 12.
According to a report of local Urdu TV channel Geo, the strike took place at about 7:30 a.m. local time when the US drones fired two missiles at a vehicle suspected of carrying militants in the Beermal area of South Waziristan, a place believed to be a stronghold of militants who often launch attacks at the US-led NATO troops in Afghanistan as well as the Afghan forces across the border.

July 12 morning's strike is the second over the last 12 hours. A day earlier, the US drones fired four missiles at a vehicle in the neighboring North Waziristan, killing at least nine suspected militants and injuring several others.

The latest US drone strike is the 42nd (counted on daily basis) in Pakistan since this year. Up to date, a total of 363 people have been killed in such strikes this year, said reports.

Most of the people killed in US drone strikes are believed to be militants from Taliban or al-Qaeda, including some top militant leaders, but the US drone strikes do sometimes mistakenly kill innocent people, which has led to a strong anti-American sentiment among the Pakistani people.
