Friendship associations contribute to Vietnam – Japan relations

Friendship associations and people-to-people diplomacy have contributed significantly to the productive ties between Vietnam and Japan, said President of the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) Ken Matsuzawa.

He made the remark at a meeting with To Huy Rua, Chairman of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association, in Tokyo on December 15.

Matsuzawa noted that Japan has been considering Vietnam a trusted partner since the beginning of their diplomatic relations.

For his part, Rua reviewed major events in the two countries’ ties which he said are at the best ever.

Vietnamese people have warm feelings towards Japan and its people, he said, expressing his hope that his organisation and FEC can work together to promote exchanges and investment activities between the sides.

He also invited Japanese investors and citizens to visit Vietnam for mutual understanding and cooperation.

As part of the meeting, representatives from Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises discussed a number of projects with potential for collaboration and exchanged experience on sustainable growth.

Established in 1983, FEC is a non-profit organisation working for friendship and cooperation between Japan and other countries on the private-sector level.
