Schedule released for Vietnamese Olympic men's football team at ASIAD 19

VOV.VN - The organising committee of the Asian Games (ASIAD) recently announced the schedule of football matches which will be held in Hangzhou, China, this September.

For men’s football, the Vietnam national Olympic team have been drawn in Group B, and they are due to play Mongolia at 3 p.m. on September 19 (local time), Iran at 6:30 p.m. on September 21, and Saudi Arabia at 6:30 p.m. on September 24.

The ASIAD 19 men’s football features a total of 23 participating teams divided into six groups. The best two teams of each group and the best four third-placed teams will then advance to the quarter-final round.

At ASIAD 2018, the Vietnamese team coached by Park Hang-seo made the final four for the first time.

Men’s football has been part of Asian Games since 1951, while women's football began in 1990.

Since the 2002 Asian Games, an age limit for men teams of under-23 plus three overage players for each squad has been imposed, which is the same as the limit in football competitions at the Summer Olympics.

Japan has been the only nation to have won both gold medals in men's and women's football at an Asian Games so far.
