The state leader talked with each of these ambassadors after the presentation ceremony.

While receiving the Russian ambassador Kovtun Andrey Grigorievich, Mr Triet said that Vietnam and Russia have established a reliable and comprehensive strategic relationship, in which the countries’ leaders have cooperated closely through regular dialogues.

Mr Triet expressed Vietnam’s determination to preserve and develop its faithful relations with the Russian federation and proposed the two countries jointly organize important activities for 2010 such as a Russia visit by General Secretary Manh, a Vietnam visit by Russian president Medvedev, and commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Russia.

Ambassador Grigorievich said Vietnam is one of Russia’s most important partners and Russia wants ties to be on par with each country’s potential.

The same day, President Triet discussed with the ambassadors of Kuwait, Bangladesh, Panama, Pakistan and Sri Lanka ways to develop mutual relations and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.

The Vietnamese president reiterated that Vietnam wishes to strengthen and expand its relations with other countries, especially in the areas of politics, economics, trade and investment.
