Passason newspaper, the official organ of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, on May 8 carried an article entitled “The Dien Bien Phu Victory - a bright example for people all over the world” to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of Vietnam's historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7).
The paper stated that Dien Bien Phu marked the first victory of the Asian people in more than 100 years over the ruling yoke of the West. The victory, which led to the end of French colonialism in Vietnam, served as a source of encouragement to the oppressed nations in the world in their struggle against colonialism.
The victory manifested the great unity of the Vietnamese nation, the paper said. It affirmed that the Dien Bien Phu Victory was a bright example of revolutionary heroism for Asian, African and Latin American nations in their struggles for national liberation, independence and freedom.
