Ho Chi Minh City welcomes more than 2.7 million visitors in January

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City received more than 416,000 international arrivals and over 2.3 million domestic holidaymakers throughout January, up 16.7% and 12.9% against the same period last year, respectively, reported the municipal Department of Tourism.

The local tourism industry earned nearly VND13 trillion in January, representing a year-on-year rise of 57.4% and meeting 6.8% of the annual plan.

To introduce the southern city’s popular destinations and tourism products in February, the local tourism industry plans to  deploy typical tourism products aimed at fully tapping into the tourism strength of its Thu Duc satellite city and other provinces.

Furthermore, the city will effectively co-ordinate with relevant units to organise tourism activities and events, with a specific focus on the 2024 Homeland Spring programme for overseas Vietnamese and the Spring flower market.

The local tourism industry aims to welcome about six million international visitors and roughly 38 million domestic visitors this year, and earn a total tourism revenue of VND190 trillion.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has set a goal of receiving 17 - 18 million international visitors, serving 110 million domestic tourists, and obtaining a total tourism revenue of around VND840 trillion.
