Thuy Linh into quarterfinals of US Open Badminton
VOV.VN - The nation’s leading female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh successfully beat Iris Wang of the host country on July 14 in the second round of the women's singles at the 2023 US Open Badminton Tournament, which is taking place in Iowa in the United States.
In the opening minutes of the first set, Linh faced numerous difficulties and was temporarily led with a score of 18-11. However, the Vietnamese player, who is seeded seventh, turned the tables on her US rival to finish the set with a score of 20-18.
In the second set, Linh lost to Iris Wang with a score of 21-17. However, in the last set, her opponent unexpectedly struggled, thereby allowing Linh to stage a comeback and ultimately win with a score of 21-8. With the final score being 2-1, Linh duly advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Moving forward, Linh will face off against the winner of the match between top seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand and Zhang Wen Yu of Canada.
