Smart City Summit 2019 opens in Danang

VOV.VN - Held in the central coastal city of Danang, the Smart City Summit 2019 got underway on October 23, outlining rational measures which smart urban areas can take to manage and develop cities.

The event attracts more than 500 delegates from at home and abroad. including senior officials from the Vietnamese Government and ministries, leaders of various Vietnamese localities and cities regionally, in addition to representatives from leading IT corporations globally.
During his opening speech, Huynh Duc Tho, chairman of the Danang municipal People’s Committee, notes that Danang’s smart city project for the 2018- 2025 period ahead to 2030 was first issued in December 2018. The project has an array of goals and roadmaps planned to build a smart city, along with a list of major works which are a priority.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Phan Tam suggests the city should focus on infrastructure and a smart data platform that supports all applications necessary for a smart city.
Truong Gia Binh, chairman of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association, congratulates both Danang’s local authorities, and local people following the city’s Asia-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (Asocio) Smart City Award for outstanding smart city initiatives at the Asocio Smart City Summit in Bangkok, Thailand in August 2019. The award is recognition of the steps the city is taking towards developing into one of the region’s major smart cities with a global reputation.
The annual event is organised in order to promote collaboration between participants as they share their respective visions, strategies, and experience in building smart cities. Furthermore, those in attendance can outline rational measures to manage and develop smart urban areas through new technological developments such as the Internet of Things, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence.
The summit is hosting four thematic conferences with topics including smart city operation based on data analysis, digital governance and finance necessary for a smart city, infrastructure and technology used within a smart city, and smart city applications.
There is also an exhibition discussing IT solutions for a smart city during the summit.
