COVID-19: 98 new cases confirmed in 4 localities over 6 hours

VOV.VN - Ninety-eight people have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in four localities across Vietnam over the past six hours, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its 12.00am COVID-19 update.

Of the total, 95 were locally acquired cases, including 64 in Bac Giang, 26 in Ho Chi Minh City, 4 in Bac Ninh and 1 in Hanoi.

Most of the cases were detected in quarantine and lockdown areas, thus posing no risk to the community, said the MoH.

The MoH also announced that three imported cases have been documented during the past six hours. The patients returned to Vietnam on June 6 through Moc Bai International Bordergate and was placed in quarantine in Tay Ninh province.

They all tested positive on June 12.

The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic which started in late April has attacked 39 cities and provinces across the country, with 7,229 cases confirmed.

Overall, Vietnam has logged a total of 10,435 cases, both locally transmitted and imported infections, since the SARS – CoV - 2 virus emerged in January 2020.

Fifty-nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported, including 24 cases during the latest outbreak.

More than 3,800 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
