Where the war has not ended

For the past 40 years, the Kim Bang Center for War Invalids in Ba Sao commune, Kim Bang district, Ha Nam province has welcomed and treated more than 500 war invalids.

Currently the Center has 3 treatment wards where treat and nurse 111 wounded soldiers of 20 northern and central provinces. Ward 1 is the home to 38 veterans who suffer from serious wounds.
Ha Huu Stars (born 1960 in Y Yen, Nam Dinh) suffers from chronic mental disorders.

Tran Van Trong (born in 1946, Nam Dinh) participated in the Vietnam War and the northern border war. He was wounded twice. He has been treated at the center for more than 20 years. Each month he stays at home for 15-20 days and the remaining time in the center.

The diet for each wounded soldier here is VND2 million (US$100)/month.

Not all patients are able to feed themselves. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tai (born 1949, Ha Nam province) is one of the patients who always need two carers.
Patients take medicines twice a day, at 10am and 7.30pm.
Doctor Chu Trung Dung, head of Ward 1, said the 38 patients are taken care by 13 nurses.
Of the patients here, many cannot remember who they are, whey they are here and how long have they been here.
