Airlines cancel flights to Nghe An and Thanh Hoa due to typhoon Son Tinh

VOV.VN - Many airlines have announced cancellations of dozens of flights to Vinh city in the central province of Nghe An and the north central province of Thanh Hoa due to the effects of typhoon Son Tinh –the third typhoon to hit the East Sea this year.

To ensure the safety of passengers, Vietnam’s low-cost carrier VietjetAir has halted flights VJ218/VJ219/VJ224/VJ225 on the route HCM City-Vinh-HCM City while other flights have also been changed accordingly.

The airline has provided information for passengers at airports and via mobile phones, SMS messages and on their hotline 19001886. Vietjet advised passengers to regularly check the latest status of flights on their website www.vietjetair.com for further information.

Passengers can check their ticket codes, and find exact information on their flights to adjust their flight schedule on the website or by contacting the hotline of military-run telecoms group Viettel to receive the latest information on all flights.

Meanwhile, Jetstar Pacific announced the cancellation of four flights from/to Vinh (Nghe An) and Tho Xuan (ThanhHoa) as typhoon Son Tinh is forecast to make landfall in the coastal areas from Thai Binh to Ha Tinh provinces on the evening of July 18.

The airline cancelled flights BL528 from HCM City to Vinh, BL529 from Vinh to HCM City and flights BL 490 from HCM City to Thanh Hoa, BL491 from Thanh Hoa to HCM City. Jetstar will lay on an additional flight schedule for passengers on July 19.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the typhoon will directly impact coastal areas from Thai Binh to Ha Tinh localities, while the centre of the storm will strike the provinces of ThanhHoa and Nghe An.
