COVID-19: Total recoveries at more than 700 with no new infection recorded

VOV.VN - There have been no new cases of COVID-19 occurring over the past 12 hours, keeping the country’s infection tally at 1,044, whilst the overall number of fully recovered patients increased to 707, the Ministry of Health reported on September 1.

Of the overall number of infections, 690 are cases of local transmission and 354 are imported ones which were immediately put into quarantine upon entry into the country.

The total figure of infections linked to central Da Nang city, the country’s biggest COVID-19 outbreak hotspot, has hit 550 since July 25.

There have been 34 deaths from the disease so far and the overall number of recoveries rose to 707 after four more coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital after going on to make a successful recovery on August 31.

According to figures released by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, among the active cases in treatment, a total of 137 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 at least once or multiple times.

As many as 55,370 who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine for health monitoring, including 908 at hospitals, over 16,110 at other concentrated facilities and the remainder at homes or places of residence.

Meanwhile, the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of Thua Thien-Hue Province has agreed to allow non-essential service establishments, including karaoke bars, cinemas, nightclubs, massage and video game service facilities to resume operations but they have to maintain preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision is set to become effective as from zero hours on September 3, and the service establishments must strictly comply with regulations regarding epidemic prevention and control.

The committee has also announced the removal of some control restrictions on commuters travelling from epidemic-hit areas. Accordingly, Thua Thien Hue is due to lift control measures against people and vehicles entering from the provinces of Quang Ngai and Dak Lak into this locality as of 0:00 September 1, while the move will come into force as from zero hours September 4 for those from the central province of Quang Tri.

Residents from the three localities entering Thua Thien Hue will not be subject to a mandatory 14-day concentrated isolation period as regulated by the Ministry of Health.
