Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association makes great strides in trade and cultural exchange

VOV.VN - The Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), the organiser of the 2024 Malaysia ASEAN International Trade Expo (MASTEX 2024), signed a Memorandum remember (MoU) on October 31 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

The event marks a new step forward for the Friendship Association with the host country's business community, thereby demonstrating its role as a bridge in terms of intensifying trade and cultural activities between the two countries.

The MoU signing ceremony took place amid the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh, Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono, representatives of diplomatic delegations of several countries, as well as MITEC and members of the Friendship Association.

The signing of the MoU aims to step up co-operation between Malaysia and Vietnam in the fields of culture, tourism, and trade.

Furthermore, the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and ACCI will also co-organise and engage in joint events such as workshops, fairs, and exhibitions in a bid to promote and create favourable conditions for trade promotion, as well as proposing initiatives aimed at further enhancing bilateral economic activities.

Sohaini Shahadan, president of ACCI, expressed hope that based on the newly signed MoU, ACCI and the Friendship Association will accompany each other in trade connection events. Indeed, the Friendship Association is likely to organise the ASEAN Export Trade Conference and Exhibition ahead in 2025.

Tran Thi Chang, chairwoman of the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association, said that her association will make every effort to promote Vietnamese products in Malaysia whilst accompanying Vietnamese businesses who are looking for opportunities to bring goods to the host nation.

The MoU signing ceremony was held within the framework of the announcement ceremony of the MASTEX 2024, which is scheduled to take place from January 23 to January 26 at MITEC.

MASTEX 2024 is designed to promote trade and investment between Malaysia and ASEAN member states, with the occasion set to offer networking opportunities for businesses from ASEAN members to connect with buyers across many different fields.

MASTEX 2024 will primarily focus on areas such as food and beverages, tourism, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing machinery, agriculture, and finance. There are also a number of special areas such as the green economy and digital economy, high technology, the environment- society- governance (ESG), the halal industrial ecosystem, and innovative products.

MASTEX 2024 will be an important platform for businesses in ASEAN member states as part of efforts to foster trade ties.

The event is widely viewed as an invaluable opportunity for experts, businessmen, and government representatives to connect, co-operate, and explore paths for mutual development whilst promoting economic prosperity under the common roof of ASEAN.
