Documentary and experimental film festival to open in Hanoi

The festival is spearheaded by Hanoi Doclab and Goethe-Institute Vietnam, with the objective of showcasing independent creative documentaries, experimental, and hybrid films.

The event will bring new independent movies from all over the world to audiences, and screen documentary and experimental productions from Vietnam, South East Asia, and Europe.

A special highlight of the event is the screening of a short film by the German curator, Birgit Glombitza, from Hamburg. She will talk about contemporary aesthetics and current trends in short films.

A string of activities will be launched during the festival, including a new field recording workshop with Ernst Karel,a sound engineering specialist from Harvard University’s Sensory Ethnography Lab,and a 2-day symposium on "Space, Time,& the Visceral in Southeast Asian Cinema."

The event offers a good opportunity for Vietnamese audiences to meet with local and international filmmakers, thus helping promote creativity and the production of high quality cinema.
