The focus of the exhibition, the fourth of its kind, is the works of eight Vietnamese wartime artists: Huynh Phuong Dong, Pham Luc, Nguyen Thanh Chau, Huy Toan, Pham Thanh Tam, Huynh Van Thuan, Le Tri Dung and Van Da.
Its theme was taken from a line in the poem “A soldier speaks of his generation (1973)”, which reads “…our generation has never slept”.
In 2015-2016, the NUS Museum held exhibitions on Vietnam’s history during the 1954-1975 period.
