Int’l kite festival takes to the skies in Vung Tau

(VOV) - The fifth international kite festival 2014 officially opened in Vung Tau Intourco Resort in the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau on May 9.

The event aims to promote the cultural value of traditional sports activities and create favourable conditions for craftsmen to expand the making of kite models nationwide.

Ho Van Loi, director of the provincial department of culture, sports and tourism, said that the event provides an opportunity for local artisans to share experiences in developing kite art with those from other nations and promote the hospitality of Ba Ria Vung Tau to both local and international friends.

After the opening ceremony, visitors enjoyed kite performances from nearly 70 leading Vietnamese artisans and kite flyers from all over the world

A range of diverse activities will be held throughout the event, including a kite making training course, Rokkaku and flute kite competitions, and a kite performance at the golf course in Paradise tourism resort.

The festival will last until May 12.
