The Lam Kinh Festival, which marks the 590th anniversary of Lam Son Insurrection and the 580th anniversary of King Le Thai To’s enthronement, was launched in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on September 21.

The ceremony was attended by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Education, To Huy Rua.

The annual festival commemorates national hero Le Loi, who defeated Chinese Ming invaders and brought independence to his people, becoming the first king of the Le dynasty with the title Le Thai To 580 years ago.

Artists depicted important historical events of the 10-year insurrection, including the ceremony of Le Loi and his soldiers expressing their faith in the country, Le Loi’s battles and his enthronement.

The ancestral tablet of General Le Lai, who sacrificed himself to save Le Loi, was paraded from his temple at Ngoc Lac Commune to the King’s temple at Xuan Lam commune.

A ceremony marking the enthronement of King Le Thai To and the victory of the 10-year insurrection against the Ming invaders was held at Lam Kinh Temple.

Many folk games, martial art and wrestling competitions, as well as exhibitions on fine arts and Le Dynasty antiques were held during the event.
