Thousands of readers gather for Vietnam Book Day event

VOV.VN -Thousands of keen readers gathered together in Thong Nhat park in Hanoi to attend the opening ceremony of the sixth annual Vietnam Book Day on April 19.

For this year’s event, Vietnam Book Day is hosting 100 booths made up of 84 different publishing houses and printing companies from throughout the country.
The event aims to encourage and cultivate a culture of reading among the local community as well as allowing readers the chance to interact with some of their favourite authors.
A wide range of different books could be found on display at the event.

Readers were able to take advantage of a range of discounts on offer.
The Vietnam Book Day event saw readers of all ages in attendance.

The event itself has a wide-ranging framework. Some of the activities organised include a seminar on the promotion of reading in the community as well as a conference that reviews the Prime Minister’s decision to designate April 21 as Vietnam Book Day. The decision was taken five years ago in 2014 and the conference is keen to analyse the impact it has had.
