The Asia Football Confederation (AFC) has selected Vietnam to host the qualifying round of the 2013 Asian Women’s U19 Tournament, scheduled for Ho Chi Minh City this December.

Twelve teams will participate in the qualifiers, namely Uzbekistan, India, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Taiwan (China), Myanmar, the Philippines, Hong Kong (China), Iran, Jordan and Palestine.

They will compete in three groups in a round robin format to select the top two winners from each group for the next round. These group winners will be joined by two more teams, namely Vietnam and Thailand, who had secured sixth and seventh places in the previous tournament.

These eight teams will then play in two groups following a round robin basis to select the two best teams for the play-off match, in which the winners will gain a berth in the tournament’s final round.

As scheduled, Vietnamese women will convene for training in August before taking part in the 2012 U19 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Championships. The team will regroup for further training in October prior to the Asian Women’s U19 qualifiers.
