Supermarkets keep stable prices for Tet

Many trade centres and supermarkets started opening their door right on February 5, the first day of the traditional lunar New Year (Tet), with prices kept at the same level before the longest and most important festival in Vietnam, according to market watchers.

They cited Lotte Mart, Hapro Mart and Aeon as cases in point, also noting that various chains of convenient stores like Circle K, Family Mart, B’s mart, and Shop&Go kept their door open through the festival.

Experts of the domestic market department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast that more supermarkets will resume their operation on February 6. Besides, traders at a number of major markets will also start selling vegetables and seafood the same day.

As a result, the supply and prices of daily necessities are kept stable for the special occasion which often sees problems as demands often skyrocket when consumers rush to buy them.

The supply of electricity to the national grid has also been ensured, with no major incidents reported.
