Top Thai Brands 2020 gets underway in Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - Leading domestic and Thai businesses are displaying their products to local consumers at the four-day Top Thai Brands 2020 exhibition, which kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on September 17.
The annual event provides an ideal platform for both Vietnamese and Thai enterprises to seek greater business opportunities, whilst simultaneously expanding trade exchanges and promoting the strategic relationship between the two countries.
An array of products and services from Thailand will be on display during the course of the four-day event from sectors such as garments and textiles, fashion accessories, health care and beauty products, beverages, home appliances, and trade services.
Suparporn Sookmark, director of the Thai Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), said economic relations between the two countries have maintained a steady growth rate despite the negative impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.
This can be seen as Thai investors continued to invest a sum of US$1.58 billion in Vietnam during the first half of the year, ranking second among FDI inflows in the nation.
Sookmark emphasised that Top Thai Brands 2020 marks a significant activity that can serve to promote bilateral trade among both countries, whilst striving to meet the target of achieving two-way trade turnover of US$20 billion for the year.
Furthermore, Thailand is seeking to be a reliable economic partner for the country, with pledges made to enhance bilateral trade and regional supply chain connectivity in the future, according to Sookmark.
Nguyen Quang Huy, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Southern Affairs, said that both nation have established a long-standing traditional friendship, especially in terms of investment and trade, with bilateral co-operation witnessing strong growth across multiple fields in recent years.
Huy added that the country has always considered Thailand to represent an important strategic partner, with trade promotion agencies hoping to speed up trade exchanges in the near future.
