The Nord pas de Cailais region and the Senate of France have provided financial assistance to help central Hue city restore 14 ancient houses.

The French region helped to upgrade nine ancient houses at an estimated cost of VND100 million each.

The French Senate granted nearly VND400 million to preserve the traditional house of the Dang clan (the family of martyr doctor Dang Thuy Tram). It also funded the restoration of four other houses at a cost of VND100-150 million each.

At present, six ancient houses in Hue city have been restored and eight others will be upgraded in August 2008.

The Lille urban community in France also assisted the city in restoring other three ancient houses.
