Four CITES-licensed enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City exported 13,000 live crocodiles and nearly 20,000 sets of crocodile skin in the past ten months, according to the city’s Department of Forest Rangers.

The firms are expected to export another 15,000 crocodiles in the last two months of this year, thus earning US$3.7 million in the whole year.

Crocodile meat is currently sold on domestic markets at VND90,000-95,000/kg (US$5.4-5.7), while the price of live crocodiles exported to China stands at VND110,000/kg (US$6.6).
