THE SMALL ALLEY

There is a small alley nestled in the heart of District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City which is home to many freelance workers.

When the fourth COVID-19 wave broke out, local people there paid their final respects to seven people

who had passed away due to COVID-19 and other underlying illnesses in less than two months.

Among the seven funerals, a husband lost his wife, a sister lost her younger sister, and a son lost his father.

They were the ones who were both directly and indirectly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The three stories below truly show the treatment of patients when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Ho Chi Minh City, with the patients either being treated at home, in concentrated isolation and treatment facilities, or together with those suffering other illnesses.

The press work is a combination of 2D drawings, sound, and a narrative text.

The reporter and artists who dedicated themselves to this work were all present in Ho Chi Minh City when the fourth COVID-19 wave started.
