VOV.VN - Hang Luoc street in Hanoi saw the opening of its annual traditional market on February 1, attracting numerous visitors who are making preparations to celebrate the Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet.

The market is typically held between the 20th day and the 30th day of the 12th lunar month in order to welcome in the Tet holiday.

The street can be seen covered by festive items such as calligraphic works, lanterns, plastic flower branches, and plenty of decorative items that celebrate Tet. All of them feature a red colour to symbolise both luck and wealth.

Decorative items normally have images of buffalo, with these proving to be particularly popular this year ahead of the Year of Buffalo.

Many traders say that the decorative items on show are cheaper compared to previous year due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This year has seen made-in-Vietnam products dominate the domestic market, rapidly becoming favourites among consumers.

The prices of these cords range from VND15,000 to VND500,000, equivalent to between US$0.65 and US$21.7, each.
