Vietnam U18 squad look ahead to 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup

VOV.VN - The national U18 men’s football team led by head coach Philippe Troussier held their first training session on March 15 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi in preparation for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.

The training camp has been held after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cancellation has left U19 men disappointed as they had qualified for the final round. Instead, U18 men represent Vietnam at the final round that will see them play alongside Saudi Arabia, Australia, and Laos in the same group.

Most notably, the squad’s first training session on March 15 in Hanoi sees 34 footballers take part, including those chosen not to play in the national U19 championship.
