Wild pear blossoms prove popular among customers after Tet

VOV.VN - Wild pear branches priced between VND500,000 and VND1 million are now a favourite item among customers in Hanoi following the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.
Recent years has seen residents of the capital purchase pure white pear flowers to decorate their homes with after Tet, as opposed to peach flowers and kumquat trees. These flowers can be found on sale along Au Co, Nghi Tam, and Lac Long Quan streets, as well as in Quang Ba flower market.
Wild pear branches come from northern provinces such as Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, and Lang Son ahead of Tet. Currently each branch costs between VND500,000 and VND5 million.

Typically the older the branches are, the more expensive they are.
Sellers state that this year has seen fewer customers buy the flowers due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Traders buy flowers before Tet, and wait for their blossoms in the post-Tet period to sell at high prices.
A wild pear branch costs VND1 million.
A trader says that wild pear branches will be sold until the 15th day of the first lunar month.
