15th round of Vietnam-Australia human rights dialogue

VOV.VN -The 15th round of the annual dialogue on human rights between Vietnam and Australia was held in Hanoi on August 28 in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutual respect. 

The two sides extolled great strides in the Vietnam – Australia strategic partnership, shared information on achievements, difficulties and challenges in promoting and ensuring human rights, and compared notes human rights issues of shared concern with a focus on law-governed State and legal reform, and how to better ensure basic freedom rights and rights of the vulnerable groups. 

They also examined a host of measures to promote collaboration within the bilateral framework and at multilateral forums in this regard. 

The Vietnamese delegation showed their interest in Australia’s challenges in ensuring human rights such as rights of the aboriginals and children, as well as assuring balance between security demand and anti-terrorism activities.

With regard to differences in issues relating to human rights, both sides affirmed their readiness to continue discussing matters of mutual concern in a bid to narrow differences, and deepen mutual understanding, and bilateral strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia.
