Ho Chi Minh City boosts cooperation with South Australia

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City wishes to strengthen cooperation with international partners, including those from South Australia, HCM City Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Nen told visiting South Australia governor Frances Adamson on November 8.

Nen said HCM City and South Australia hold great potential for strong cooperation, and the two sides should increase cooperation in the areas of manufacturing, health care, education, innovation and renewable energy.

He thanked the Australian Government and people for delivering COVID-19 vaccines and medical equipment to Vietnam, including HCM City, and believed the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia would continue to flourish in many fields in the coming time.

For her part, governor Adamson said Vietnam was a young economy before COVID-19 broke out but it is recovering and growing well in the post pandemic period.

She expressed hope that the two countries would enhance relations, with education viewed as one of the key areas of cooperation. South Australia which is home to about 2,000 Vietnamese students, is ready to strengthen educational cooperation and bring Australian universities to Vietnam, she said.

Adamson also talked about the possibility of ramping up cooperation in other important areas such as trade and climate change response.

The governor said Vietnamese dishes are now very popular in Australia, and she hoped Australian products such as wine will also be popular in Vietnam.

Australia is currently the 19th largest foreign investor in HCM City, pouring a total of more than US$900 million into nearly 800 investment projects in the locality.
