Japanese Prime Minister Suga concludes Vietnam visit
VOV.VN - Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and his wife left Hanoi on October 20, concluding their three-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife.
During their stay, the Japanese PM held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc, paid courtesy visits to Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and some others.
Suga expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s initial success in COVID-19 control, highly valued Vietnam’s position in the region, and affirmed the new Japanese government will pursue the previous administration’s policy of further developing the extensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.
Suga noted Vietnam plays an important role in Japan’s free and open Indo-Pacific strategy.
Both sides agreed to increase connectivity of the two economies to boost cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, human resources training among others.
The two PMs witnessed the signing of 12 cooperation documents valued at nearly 4 billion between the two countries’ ministries, sectors, localities and businesses.
Suga has chosen Vietnam as his destination for his first ever overseas trip after taking office a month ago to replace Shinzo Abe who stepped down due to health reasons.
After Vietnam, Suga is scheduled to make an visit to Indonesia.
